Services & Sunday School

Our Sunday services are an opportunity to worship God and then listen to a sermon by the preacher, usually our Pastor. A typical service starts with announcements and is followed by singing hymns both traditional and contemporary; a reading from the Bible; the preacher will pray and then preach on the Bible passage read earlier.

A service typically lasts about 75 minutes, after which everyone is free to talk with our Pastor or other members of the congregation.  The last thing we want is for you to feel you have to depart quickly and quietly because getting to know all who attend our services is important to us, so long as that is what you want.  Following our evening services we usually serve refreshments in the ‘Schoolroom’ adjacent, to which everyone is invited.

Twice a month we conclude our services with communion (usually on the first and third Sunday of the month).  This adds about 15 minutes to the duration of the service.

During the morning service we usually take up a seat-to-seat collection.  This is intended for regular members of the fellowship who prefer to give this way.  It is not expected that visitors should feel obliged to contribute to the church finances unless they wish to.

Sunday School meets each Sunday morning, except during the Summer holidays and when we hold Family Services, and any children from 3 years of age up to School year 6 are welcome to attend.  Sunday School starts just before the sermon, when the children and the teachers leave the morning service and meet in our ‘Schoolroom’ adjacent. The children sing songs, listen to a Bible story and undertake various activities reflecting the meaning of the week’s story.  Children are grouped according to age and guided in an appropriate way by adults.  Parents are free to accompany their own children if necessary.
